Alumar Animal Rescue: Protecting Wildlife by Homing Strays

In 2017, Alumar launched the Domestic Animal Rescue Program with the goal of protecting local wildlife. Stray cats and dogs are rescued by the Emergency Brigade and taken to the veterinary clinic, where spaying, neutering, deworming and vaccination procedures are carried out. The animals are then put up for adoption.

To date, the program has successful rescued and provided care for 301 cats and 15 dogs. In an effort to boost their prospects of finding a home, Alumar began organizing adoption events internally, beginning in April 2023. As a result, 100 cats and 5 dogs have been welcomed into new families.

Alumar’s animal rescue program not only mitigates competition and predation between domestic animals and local wildlife, but it also plays a crucial role in controlling zoonotic diseases that could devastate wild species.
